Hen plays mom to puppies

LONDON: Meet the chicken that rules the roost... err, make that the dog basket.

Mabel the hen has adopted a litter of adorable puppies at a farm in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
The hen-dog huddled herself in with her brood after noticing the mother of the pups behaving oddly, and has been looking after them ever since.
It is essential for newborn pups to be kept at the correct temperature, as many newborns die from chilling. Their real mum Nettle is now outside the yard
It is not uncommon for dogs to reject their puppies.
