How To Relax Your Mind

Learning how to meditate for beginners may sound difficult, but it is actually quite simple. You simply need to follow six essential pieces of advice. The results are well worth the effort. Meditation can be a great way to relax. Pretty soon, you can be leading a completely stress free life!
Key#1: Find a Special PlaceThe first step involves finding a very quiet place. Where you meditate is often just as important as the techniques you use. You need to be in an environment which lends itself well to relaxation. If you are constantly distracted the techniques will not work.

Key#2: Prepare Physically
Your spiritual journey takes place in and through your physical body. Here’s how you can help prepare it for meditation:

• Take a shower before meditating. If it isn’t possible to take a shower, wash your face and hands.
• Wear clean, light, loose fitting clothes.
• Take your shoes off before meditating. Your feet deserve a break too!

Key#3: Sit Relaxed, Sit Straight
There’s no need to sit in a special yogic posture to meditate. If you can sit comfortably on a cushion on the floor, this is best. Otherwise a meditation stool or chair is fine. The important thing is to be still and relaxed, to have your back erect. If you r focusing on a candle or flower then it should be close to eye level. People often ask if it’s okay to meditate while lying down. We don’t recommend it; the most likely outcome is you’ll fall asleep.

Key#4: Slow and Steady Wins the Race
The fourth step also involves breathing. Specifically, you want to count your breaths. You should do so for several seconds, but gradually begin increasing the count. Timing your breaths is a great way to help you relax even further

Key#5: Choose the right time
Make an appointment with yourself and practice at the same time each day. Just as you feed your physical body several times a day at certain times, meditation nourishes your inner life so set at least one special time each day for your meditation exercises.

Key#6: The Power of Music
The sixth and final step leads to focusing on one, single thing. It might be a sound you hear outside. It might be the sound of your breathing. It could even be an object you see in your mind. In the beginning, your focus may sometimes drift away. Do not get frustrated, this is completely normal. You just need to bring it back to the object or sound on which you are focusing. The more you practice, the less your focus will slip.

Meditation is a state of deep peace that occurs when the mind is calm and silent. It is the art of silencing the mind. Thank you very much for such a good idea.
